Trade Balance

Trade Balance is the ratio between a country's imports and exports in a given period. It is a positive trade balance if a country has higher exports than it imports, and therefore that country's currency appreciates in value. A trade surplus increases GDP, and net exports can also aid in predicting future trends in inflation. The Balance of Trade (BOT) reports are published monthly, quarterly, and annually by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
